Promises Fulfilled

Emerald Takes Over (also known as Emerald Bakes Up Trouble) is the 29th episode of Sailor Moon R. It was preceded by The Secret of the Luna Sphere and followed by Promises Fulfilled.

Emerald comes up with a plan of destroying Crystal Tokyo by using Sapphire's Dark Wedges (which resemble Emerald) to fill Tokyo's vulnerable spots with dark energy, which will then allow the Dark Gate to be opened so dark energy can flood the world. Prince Diamond approves the plan, and Emerald wants to get it done soon because she is in love with Diamond. Sapphire tells her not to come crying to him as Rubeus did after each of his attempts.

Amy, Raye, Lita, and Mina go to a cake shop (the first vulnerable spot), where all the cakes are free for today. Serena and Emerald both begin pigging out on the cakes, eating as many as they can. Both stop after a while, and Emerald places the Dark Wedge in the cake shop, summing a droid named Marzipan to look after things.

The place begins to fill with dark energy, so the girls transform and fight Marzipan, who turns them into cake, but she is attacked by Tuxedo Mask, who says that water might be Marzipan's weakness, as she is made of cake. Sailor Mercury begins to melt Marzipan with Shine Aqua Illusion, and Sailor Moon destroys her with Moon Scepter Elimination. The Dark Wedge is destroyed.

Emerald appears before the Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask, all of whom are forced to cover their ears from her horrible laugh as she disappears.

  • This episode marks the beginning of Emerald's evil plans to fill Tokyo's vulnerable spots with dark energy.
