"Gramps in a Pickle" is the seventeenth episode of Sailor Moon R. It was preceded by Sailor Mercury Moving On? and followed by Trouble Comes Thundering Down.
Plot
Grandpa Hino opens up a fighting school at the temple. Raye tells him he is too old for this and the doctor told him to take it easy. Meanwhile, Rubeus tells the Negamoon Sisters that a crystal point of Tokyo is located in the temple, and sends Catzi over to it.
Chad recruits several women to enter the martial arts school. Catzi and her droid, Rhonda, are among them, and one by one, Rhonda defeats all the others, and anyone she defeated in the arena (which Catzi cursed with dark energy) falls under her spell, similar to Frosty's ice cream in the previous episode. Grandpa defeats them, so Rhonda reveals her true form and fights him. Raye protects Grandpa from Rhonda and gets beat up. Rhonda then knocks Grandpa out.
Serena transforms into Sailor Moon. When Tuxedo Mask arrives to stop Rhonda's attack (though he is avoiding her he is still their ally against evil), Sailor Moon destroys her with Moon Scepter Elimination. She then fights Catzi, but Catzi gains the advantage. Raye transforms into Sailor Mars and attacks Catzi with Mars Fire Ignite, but it is not enough. Thinking of her grandpa and how powerful they are, she uses a new attack, Mars Celestial Fire Surround, and sets Catzi on fire, forcing her to teleport away.
Grandpa and Chad continue the fighting school with Rini as their first student.
