Pioneer Entertainment (USA) Inc.[1] was the given name of the former Geneon Entertainment (now NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan). Pioneer Entertainment USA Inc., was responsible for the distribution of the English Localizations for thre three Sailor Moon films, The Promise of the Rose, Hearts in Ice and Black Dream Hole in 2000.[2]

Pioneer Entertainment began as a spin-off of Pioneer Electronics, a Japanese electronics firm. Pioneer specialized in a wide variety of genre releases, which included the likes of music and special interest. However, they later become better known as an anime producer and distributor.[3]

In 2003, Pioneer sold its entertainment division to another Japanese conglomerate, advertising giant Dentsu Incorporated.[4] Dentsu renamed the company "Geneon", which is a portmanteau of the English words "generate" and "eon". The name is meant to signify innovation and longevity.[3][4]
